Cookie Policy
Last updated: 6 July 2026
This Cookie Policy (the “Policy”), as may be amended, restated, supplemented, or otherwise modified from time to time, describes the manner in which BitVault Europe S.A. LTD. (“BitVault”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) deploys, reads, and otherwise makes use of cookies and technologies of a similar nature on or in connection with the websites, applications, and services made available by or on behalf of BitVault from time to time (the “Services”), in accordance with Directive 2002/58/EC (as amended, the “ePrivacy Directive”), its national implementing measures, and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (the “GDPR”). This Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which contains further particulars regarding the processing of personal data generally.
1. Nature of Cookies & Similar Technologies
For the purposes of this Policy, the term “cookies” shall be construed broadly and shall include, without limitation, cookies properly so called (being small text files placed on a user’s device by a website or application), together with technologies serving materially similar functions, including local and session storage objects, pixels, tags, scripts, and software development kits, in each case whether deployed by BitVault or, where applicable, by third parties. Such technologies may serve a variety of functions, including enabling core functionality, maintaining the state and security of a session, recording preferences, and facilitating the measurement and improvement of the Services.
2. Categories Deployed
The categories of cookies and similar technologies deployed in connection with the Services, and the general purposes thereof, are summarised in the table below. The precise technologies deployed may vary from time to time and by jurisdiction, feature, and device.
| Category | Purpose (indicative) | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Technologies without which the Services cannot properly be provided, including those supporting authentication, session integrity and security, load distribution, and the retention of your selected interface theme (light or dark). | Not required |
| Functional | Technologies which record interface preferences and similar choices, including your preferred display currency, in order to provide a more consistent experience. | Optional |
| Analytics | Technologies which assist us in understanding, on an aggregated basis, the manner in which the Services are used, for the purposes of maintenance and improvement. | Required |
| Marketing | Technologies which support the measurement of campaigns and, where enabled, the personalisation of content. | Required |
3. Legal Basis
Strictly necessary technologies are deployed on the basis that they are essential for the provision of the Services expressly requested by you. All other categories are deployed only where and to the extent that you have given your consent through the consent mechanism made available within the Services, which consent may be withdrawn or varied at any time with effect for the future, without affecting the lawfulness of any use made prior to such withdrawal.
4. Management of Preferences
You may accept or decline non-essential cookies by means of the consent banner presented within the Services, and may revisit and revise your election at any time. In addition, most browsers permit the management, restriction, or deletion of cookies through their settings. You are advised that the disabling or deletion of strictly necessary technologies may materially impair the operation of the Services, including, without limitation, your ability to remain signed in, and that BitVault accepts no responsibility for any degradation of functionality attributable thereto.
5. Local Storage
BitVault causes a limited quantity of information to be retained within your browser’s local storage, including session tokens, your selected interface theme, and your preferred display currency, for the purposes of maintaining your authenticated session and delivering a consistent experience across the Services. Such information remains on your device, is not used for purposes other than those described herein, and is removed upon your signing out of the Services or upon your clearing of your browser’s storage.
6. Third-Party Technologies
Certain content or functionality within the Services may be provided by third parties which may deploy their own cookies or similar technologies. Such deployment is subject to the terms and privacy arrangements of the relevant third party, over which BitVault exercises no control and for which BitVault accepts no responsibility. You are encouraged to review the applicable third-party notices.
7. Duration
Cookies and similar technologies may subsist for the duration of a session or for such longer period as is appropriate to their function, in each case for no longer than is reasonably necessary for the purposes for which they are deployed or as permitted by applicable law.
8. Amendments & Contact
We may amend, restate, supplement, or otherwise modify this Policy from time to time in order to reflect changes in the technologies deployed, in applicable law, or otherwise; the version published within the Services from time to time shall be the operative version. Enquiries concerning this Policy may be directed to privacy@bitvaultapp.net.
